Square Root Creative is a fast-paced marketing agency that prides itself on producing exceptional quality work for our clients. We are looking for an exceptional writer with excellent writing and research skills.

About the position:

You will write and edit copy for a variety of projects including print, web, events, email marketing, demand generation, video and social media. To succeed and enjoy this position, you are a quick learner, a good listener and can do your own research. The majority of your work here will be technology related and in the business-to-business sector. You will write original copy and edit content for a range of marketing and corporate communications materials.

Minimum experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional writing experience with a strong portfolio of work which must include writing brochures (for products or services), email campaigns, web copy and print advertisements.
  • Recent writing experience in technology, business-to-business and business-to-consumer industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro. InDesign, Excel and HTML a plus.

Skills, expectations and projects:

  • You can write clever titles, but your forte is developing long texts such as brochures and marketing materials.
  • Understand how technology and software drive the back-end of businesses, connect workflow to users, and create efficiencies.
  • Confidently write paragraphs with sentences that connect to tell a smooth story.
  • Follow the instructions and write a creative brief that aligns with the strategic direction and matches the guidelines, personality and tone of the brand.
  • Be able to write a plan based on a client interview/project kick-off call.
  • Take high-level B2B concepts and information and turn them into descriptive stories that are informative, interesting, and not too lofty.
  • Translate product features into consumer benefits that connect with the target audience and drive desired actions. This requires the ability to identify end-user pain points and understand their impact.
  • Able to proofread your own work and familiar with standard style guides.
  • Fortunately, revise the copy based on internal and customer feedback/guidelines.
  • Understand how your copy will fit into the design.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.

Other things to consider before sending a resume and work samples:

  • We are a collaborative team with a high volume workload often requiring short turnaround times.
  • You approach projects and life with a positive attitude.
  • You can handle a crazy day and appreciate when it’s time to get things done.
  • You want to work with a team that has an eye for detail and an appreciation for quality design.
  • Depending on the project, you may work in tandem with account managers and creative staff.
  • You want a full-time position, with a hybrid schedule consisting of office hours and working from home, which can be flexible.
