Owatonna-Area Prep Dashboard for Thursday, April 28

Owatonna High School Sports had a busy day on Thursday April 28th. The teams were largely successful in dodging the weather. Although it rained and a threat of thunderstorms persisted. It was also difficult to fight against a pair of No. 1 ranked teams.

The Huskies softball lost a game 14-5 to best Mankato West. The Scarlets took an 8-0 lead after two and a half sets. The Huskies had five runs late in the third. Katelyn Bentz started with a single. Izzy Radel doubled up. Parris Hovden hit a deep left center drive that jumped off the defender’s glove for a two-run brace.

Samantha Bogen had an RBI single. Paiton Glynn smashed a ball over the left field fence for a two-run homer and the score was 8-5. OHS put the runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings but did not score. West (9-0, 6-0 Big Nine) scored six in the sixth for the 14-5 final.

OHS right fielders Kendra Bogen and Mehsa Krause made several fine defensive plays. Owatonna (6-5, 5-2) travels to Rochester Mayo on Tuesday. The Huskies host Mankato East for Parents Night on Thursday, May 5 at Morehouse Park.

BOYS ARE 5TH IN COUGAR RELAYS

Owatonna finished fifth by a hair at the Cougar Relays in Lakeville South. The top five teams are listed below.

  4. Blain, 766
  5. Owatonna, 765

The Huskies finished first with Carter Johnson (110 hurdles), Ryan Gregory (300 hurdles), Eli Spurgeon (discus) and Justin Gleason (long jump).

LACROSSE TEAMS DIVIDED WITH NORTHFIELD

The OHS boys lost 14-7 to the Raiders at Owatonna High School. Jack Strom scored five times for the Huskies. The Owatonna girls won 8-4 at Northfield on Thursday.
