Minister Vandal Highlights Fall Economic Statement Support for Jobs and Skills and Announces $900,000 CanNor Investment with Travel Nunavut

Travel Nunavut contribute to the marketing and professional training initiatives of local tourism operators as they rebuild, innovate and grow their businesses

IQALUIT NOW, November 8, 2022 /CNW/ – Nunavut has a lot to offer visitors: a pristine environment, vibrant communities, beautiful landscapes and welcoming people that make the territory a unique and memorable place to visit. While the pandemic has affected the ability of many people to discover the territory, its tourist operators are now welcoming visitors again and showing them all that Nunavut has to offer.

Today, while in Iqaluitthe Honorable Dan Vandal, Minister of Northern Affairs, PrairiesCan and CanNor, spoke about the recent Fall Economic Statement 2022 and announced that the government of Canada invests $900,000offered by CanNor, to support Travel Nunavut in its efforts to market the territory as a travel destination, while providing skills training and support to help grow local jobs, businesses and tourism operators.

Travel Nunavut is a not-for-profit association that promotes tourism development by providing specialist knowledge and expertise in marketing, research, market readiness and advocacy. With this funding, the organization will use its expertise and experience to provide training in digital literacy, content development and marketing to its members. The benefits of this project will have an impact on from Nunavut tourism industry as a whole and will continue to build the territory’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination. Core funding for Travel Nunavut is provided by the Government of Nunavut.

Funding for this project comes from the Inclusive Diversification and Economic Advancement in the North (IDEANorth) program, which makes foundational investments in economic infrastructure, sector development and capacity building to help position northerners in the territories so that they benefit from from Canada innovation economy. These investments advance, encourage and support broader economic opportunities, as well as specific economic and business needs. Investing in Travel Nunavut demonstrates that the Government of from Canada commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering the growth of from Nunavut tourism industry, creating an economy that benefits everyone.
