Apna.co saw a 56% increase in female applicants compared to last year. Over the past eight months, the platform has seen the number of women applying for remote jobs double.

Jobs and Professional Networking Platform Apna.co saw a 132% increase in female users over last year, with most seeking remote jobs.

Founded in 2019, Apna.co has over 5.1 million women registered on its platform.

The company saw a 56% increase in the number of female applicants compared to last year. Over the past eight months, the platform has seen the number of women applying for remote jobs double.

“This data is likely to increase in the coming months, particularly with more remote job opportunities available locally,” he said in a statement.

Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India could achieve targeted results, in line with Vision 2047, by using the power of women wisely.

“We can make good use of the power of women by adopting flexible working hours, which is the future need,” he said.

Apna.co said that reducing commuting time was the main motivation for women seeking remote jobs, with flexible working hours, which allowed them to manage working from home and seek other forms of income generation, including taking home tuition/nursery fees.

BPO jobs such as telesales or phone calls, data entry operator, management roles such as business development, administrators, back office, office assistant, university jobs including tutors, teachers, and jobs related to finance and marketing were the most in demand.

The platform has seen an increase in the number of employers looking for candidates who also want to work remotely. Cities like Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Lucknow have seen an increase in working from home this year.

The jobs platform also reported that there has been an increase in the number of women applying for positions such as drivers, delivery partners, backend engineers, aircraft repair, among others.

“The flexibility and convenience brought by remote working has the potential to inspire more professionals to join the workforce, further accelerating the country’s economic engine,” said Manas Singh, Chief Commercial Officer of Apna.co.

Currently, the platform has more than 25 million users and is present in more than 70 cities. It has 3 lakh employer partners in India to meet their hiring needs.
