TRAVIS Barker built a $50 million fortune before he even met fiancé Kourtney Kardashian because he’s way more “showbiz savvy” than fans realize, sources have told The Sun.
Blink-182 drummer Travis, 46, has become a central figure in the Kardashian universe since it emerged he was dating the eldest daughter of the celebrity clan in late 2020.
The new Hulu reality series The Kardashians is currently giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the tattooed rocker’s seemingly unlikely romance with glam Kourtney.
Now, Hollywood insiders have revealed that Travis’ own career and money-making skills mean he’s more than prepared for this moment.
He had already built a multi-million dollar fortune estimated at $50 million through his own career in music and reality television and other business ventures.
And he’s more comfortable living in front of the cameras alongside Kourtney, 43, than her ex Scott Disick ever was, said a source who interacted with the couple.
The insider told The Sun: “Travis comes into this field with his eyes wide open and despite appearances, this guy is way more showbiz savvy than people realize.
“Not only did he tune in hour after hour in front of reality TV cameras long before he met a Kardashian, thanks to his well-known Meet The Barkers show.
“He’s also an expert at managing his life away from the cameras and keeping his dignity and soul intact.
“Scott Disick never understood how to maintain that line between TV and reality, but Travis lived his life on it and made it work for him and his business.

“It’s definitely a place where he and Kourtney agree.”
Travis’ astonishing career saw him go from working as a trash man after graduating from high school to becoming what Rolling Stone described as “punk’s first superstar drummer” after joining Blink-182. in 1998.
The band had already released two albums prior to his arrival, but became superstars with Travis in their lineup when they released Enema of the State in 1999.
The album sold over 15 million copies worldwide and the band’s follow-up effort, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, was another huge success.
The group subsequently released four more albums and sold over 50 million records worldwide and over 13 million in the United States alone.
Our insider said, “People forget that his band not only sold millions of records, but they were headlining stadiums for a good 15 years.
“Even though the Blink-182 team doesn’t like to brag about their wealth, the guys did incredibly well.
“Travis will never have to work, Kourtney or anyone again.”
Travis made sure to capitalize on the opportunities presented to him following the massive success of Blink-182.
As part of his music career, he performed in numerous other punk rock and hip hop projects, including the rap-rock supergroup Transplants.
And as things started to take off with Blink-182, he offered drum lessons and clinics with music store chain Guitar Center as a side business.
He has since entered into sponsorship deals with Drum Workshop drums, Zildjian cymbals and drumsticks, and Remo drumheads.
The California native also owned LaSalle Records and DTA Records, which released a collaboration between him and superstar rappers Lil Wayne and Rick Ross in 2019.
Outside of music, Travis caused a stir when his reality show Meet The Barkers began airing on MTV in 2005.
Starring the punk rocker, his then-wife Shanna Moakler and their children, it ran for two seasons until 2006, when the pair acrimoniously split amid cheating allegations.
Known for following a vegan diet, Travis has also invested in food outlets, including a fish taco franchise in Norco, Calif., and upscale vegan restaurant Crossroads Kitchen in West Hollywood.
In 1999, he launched the Famous Stars and Straps line of clothing and accessories, which was inspired by the punk rock and hip hop subcultures.
Other business ventures in recent years have included cannabinoid-infused products from Barker Wellness, a range of gear with UK house brand Buster + Punch, and a collaboration with BMX brand SE Bikes.
Travis said he was inspired to start the wellness business after using CBD to cope with pain, PTSD and grief after being one of only two passengers to survive when a private jet crashed in South Carolina in 2008.
Besides his entrepreneurial endeavors, Travis has also been good at investing the proceeds of his businesses, pouring money into several multi-million dollar properties in upscale Los Angeles neighborhoods such as Cheviot Hills and Calabasas.
He is also known for collecting classic Cadillac and Chevrolet cars, some of which were later sold at auction.
“NICE MATURE GUY”
His business acumen even put him in a position to offer Kourtney an estimated $1 million engagement ring in October last year.
The couple made headlines earlier this month when they appeared to unofficially wed in Las Vegas without a permit.
The Sun’s source said: “When this relationship started people wanted to dismiss it, but the stark differences between Travis and Scott meant it was really going to last a while, at least for people who know Kourtney well.
“She found a guy who was 180 degrees different from her ex in every way, and not in a bad way either.
“Unlike Scott, Travis has real talent and has won fans around the world for his music.
“Also unlike Scott, Travis has years under his belt as a dedicated working dad and self-made multi-millionaire.
“And most importantly, Travis is way more humble than Scott, right down to his heart.
“He treats Kourtney like a princess, not because he wants to look good on camera, but because he’s inherently good and mature.”
