And some are turning to side hustles as a way to make money outside of a 9-5 job.

One woman revealed five easy side businesses you can start with no upfront cost, while another in the US has earned thousands of dollars from printing.

Now a mum has shared how using the Fiverr app has seen her earn an extra £300 a month.

Fiverr is an online marketplace application where freelancers can offer their services for a fee.

Meredith, 45, told The Express that she relied on her love for fiction books to offer independent story reviews on the app, which she discovered through her husband .

She said: “I already work part-time for his businesses, run the house and be with the kids when they come home from school.

“We needed something that would fit in with that and therefore not require childcare.

“I was hesitant at first because I had no official writing or editing credentials to my name, but when I looked at who was offering similar services on Fiverr, I realized I had more than enough skills and experience to be able to provide good service to people.”

Meredith said he was “reassured” to be able to bring in extra money in his spare time, especially as the cost of living has put “a lot of pressure” on his family.

She explained that she also shopped at Aldi because it was cheaper, and her children had stopped going to so many extracurricular activities to save money as well.
