Henrico County Public Schools 95% staff with 175 teaching vacancies | Education

As the first day of class approaches for Henrico County public school students, 95% of teaching positions are filled with 175 vacancies, according to school officials.

Superintendent Henrico Amy Cashwell announced at Thursday’s school board business session that every class will be covered by a qualified adult on Monday – whether that’s a permanent substitute teacher, daily substitute or teacher. a temporary reassignment.

Some of the vacancies include 80 new teaching positions that were added last year. With the new positions taken into consideration, the number of vacancies is similar to last school year, according to Cashwell. Public schools in Henrico County offer more positions than required by the state.
