THE ROLE

We are looking for a designer with a passion for arts and culture to help bring our festival brand to life with dynamic and engaging brand design. This is a suitable role for a collaborative creative with experience in brand storytelling, ideation and digital content production.

Reporting to the Lead Designer, you will be the go-to design resource for the brand and content team, and for the entire organization as needed, creating everything needed to run a festival. This includes marketing such as social media posts, campaign assets and program images, as well as festival assets such as signage, wayfinding, menus and maps. You are social media savvy, understand user experience and how people consume content. You also get an idea of the spaces, anticipate people’s behaviors and can plan accordingly. You are aware of design and content trends, but you do not follow them with devotion. You have opinions but you’re a good collaborator – you know it leads to better ideas and you don’t let ego get in the way.

You are a proactive and conceptual creative thinker, start coming up with ideas as soon as you read the brief and have a mood board running on Pinterest or taping to Instagram. The first thing on your list is to study our brand guidelines so you can quote them like verse. When it comes to applying them, you understand where a literal interpretation is required and where the boundaries can be pushed. Adobe Creative Suite is your bliss, but feel free to explore exciting new programs and processes.

You’re comfortable managing your own briefs and don’t have to be reminded of a deadline twice. You are unflappable, practical and solution-oriented – you solve unexpected problems in your stride. You have a watchful eye on when a margin is off or the wrong pantone has been used, and you won’t rest until you get the spacing between the logos right. You’re confident in designing signage, handouts, uniforms, marketing materials, and print materials, but you’re also a well-oiled content machine when we just need to do some shit (hello, web banners ).
