Gaming Journalism Jobs: Entertainment Editor, News and Guides Editor

GameRevolution is looking for an Entertainment Editor, Senior News Writer, and Senior Guides Writer to join our team.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join GR, with the site getting a huge makeover this year that will be its most significant update since its inception in 1996. We can’t wait for new faces join our talented and hard-working team as we collectively take our next giant leap forward.

The roles are described below, with applications available at the bottom of the post.

Roles

Entertainment Editor ($3,000 per month)

We need a passionate and driven entertainment editor to lead our next entertainment channel, spanning film, TV and streaming services.

As an entertainment editor, you will be responsible for expanding our entertainment coverage. This will include daily news and guides related to recently released and upcoming movies and series that fit GameRevolution’s audience – think more Marvel and Star Wars than reality TV. You will be responsible for staying up to date with the world of entertainment, covering the stories that matter to our audience and shaping our entertainment output. The role will include content production and editing, with the editor responsible for overseeing a small team of entertainment writers.

This is a remote freelance role and we accept applicants from outside the US (although it is preferable to be at least partially available during US working hours).

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily publication of entertainment news and guides
  • Writing articles and opinion pieces
  • Work with PR to arrange reviews and interviews
  • Lead a small team of writers
  • Adhere to our style guide and SEO best practices

Lead News Writer (Games) ($2,000 per month)

We need a talented writer who will be able to quickly cover the latest news from the gaming industry and its surrounding community. We are looking for a Senior Writer who has a great eye for a story that will engage our readers and who will be able to drive engagement on GameRevolution by carefully curating stories that will get commenters talking and readers sharing our social media posts.

The Lead News Writer will listen to the gaming community, keep abreast of discussions related to the latest releases, and create daily articles that mix breaking news with stories of interest. We want a writer who can find “the story within a story” – someone who won’t just point out that a new game trailer has been released, but will dissect that trailer for the most up-to-date information. juiciest he can find.

  • Search and discover original news content
  • Follow SEO best practices to maximize your traffic (experience in this area is appreciated!)

Lead Guides Writer (Games) ($2,000 per month)

We need a Senior Guides Writer with SEO experience who can help lead the coverage of our game guides – our most viewed content category. The Master Guides Writer will be able to produce both reactive guides based on trending and popular keyphrases, as well as produce proactive guides for upcoming games.

The Lead Guides Writer will stay up to date with SEO best practices, employing them to maximize their traffic. They’ll play the latest games and upcoming releases to create cheats and walkthroughs, while regularly monitoring trends.

This is a remote freelance role and we accept applicants from outside the US (although it is preferable to be at least partially available during US working hours).

Responsibilities include:

  • Posting guides related to the most searched keywords and keyphrases
  • Regularly monitor trends for breakout search terms to capitalize on
  • Play the newest and unreleased video games to extract them from guides material
  • Follow SEO best practices
  • Adhere to our style guide
