Winona State University invites you to join our community of learners as the Dean of the College of Education.

About the position: The Dean provides administrative and innovative leadership to Winona State University College of Education programs at the Winona and Rochester campuses, leading a faculty-developed transformation to prepare effective teachers for the 21st century. The Dean provides overall management of all faculty, staff and students in the College of Education and is responsible for the quality of programs and teaching within the College, as well as representation of the College to internal constituencies and external. Additionally, the Dean is responsible for the academic direction of all college teacher education license programs outside of the College of Education. The Dean of the College of Education participates in the Council of Deans and assists the Provost in providing academic leadership for the University.

About Winona: The town of Winona, MN has a population of just over 27,500 and is nestled between cliffs and the banks of the Mississippi River – one of Minnesota’s most scenic areas. Once one of the most important towns in the Midwest due to its location on the river, Winona boasts a rich heritage of historic buildings and period homes. Winona State University is located in the heart of town, with convenient access to shopping, outdoor recreation, social activities, and community resources. Winona is also home to a wide range of artistic, musical, and theatrical opportunities, as well as museums, collaborative maker spaces, and numerous festivals such as the Mid-West Music Fest, Great River Shakespeare Festival, and Frozen River Film Festival.

Qualifications: (1) A doctorate obtained in one of the disciplines reflected in the college of a regionally accredited institution; (2) At least 5 years of demonstrated successful and progressive experience in higher education, including both administration (e.g. program director, department chair, associate dean) and teaching at full time, and (3) familiarity with state teacher licensing processes.
