💧 Survey on the water crisis! 💧
Residents are limited to watering their landscapes two days a week, before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. What else should the City do to address the water crisis? Please let me know your thoughts! So far, 21.9% want to impose drought-resistant landscaping, 19.2% want to recycle wastewater for irrigation, another 39.7% want to build a desalination plant on the coast, and 19.2% don’t believe that residential water use contributes to the water crisis.

Here are the top five stories from today in Los Angeles:

  1. An officer with the LAPD shot a suspect Thursday after 5 p.m. The police were called because “of a man armed with a knife near West Pico and Sawtelle Blvd. area. He allegedly charged the officers with the knife, which resulted in his death. (Fox LA)
  2. We learned on Thursday that the LAPD and US Marshals had collaborated to locate and stop “almost 200 people suspected of murder, sexual assault and other serious crimes in Los Angeles. Operation North Star, violators were found in all 11 subdivisions. In addition to the arrests, there were 47 firearms removed from the streets. (Mercury News)
  3. The murder of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe affects many of our neighbours. Abe”attended USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy for three semesters from 1978 to 1979.” “The Trojan family is deeply saddened and shocked by the horrific shooting of former Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, a proud Trojan horse who last visited USC in 2015, the USC President Carol Folt in a statement.” (LAist)
  4. The city reminded tenants and landlords on Thursday that the “The tenant anti-harassment order is in effect.” It refers to an order that came into effect in August that “prohibits landlords from harassing tenants through actions such as removing housing services, suspending repairs or refusing to accept rent payments.” (The cityHousing LA City)
  5. Mark your calendars! Los Angeles celebrates the completion of the Sixth Street Viaduct. After the inauguration ceremony on Friday, there will be ILong live the music today with Ozomatli, “food trucks, an exhibition of vintage cars, fireworks and a lighting bridge” from 14h On Sundays, pedestrians and bicycles can cross the bridge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Fox)
